I
qualified from the University of Natal, School of Architecture in
1999 with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Post Graduate Diploma
in Architecture. While studying architecture I also did a few courses
in Desk Top Publishing (DTP) and Computer Graphics. Somehow the
pull towards the graphic design world was stronger and I decided
to pursue a career as a graphic designer.
My
first few projects were all for architects, doing mostly presentation
work, but eventually I took a permanent position at a publishing
firm (Sizwe Publishing). There I really got into the graphics side of things, and all
but left architecture behind. I built my first few websites for
Sizwe, and more than my share of Interactive CD Roms.
When
I left, MonsterMedia was born and it's been growing since then. When I first started working for myself I did a bit of work for Mango Media, and that eventually led to my being employed in an online marketing company called Verpakt Management Services - where I did design (print and web) and alot of online marketing (SEM, SEO, Direct Marketing, Email Marketing and more)
I left Verpakt Management Services to start my own magazine - called Incognito - which saw 2 issues on the shelves before I ran out of money to print any more! I then got into freelancing again and worked for a few firms along the way, Two Tone Design, DMark Advertising and others. I eventually took a position at SA Warranties as their Graphic Designer - but left shortly afterwards (sometimes you just don't fit in!)
I then joined Stargaze Media - another online marketing firm specialising in the marketing of online casino's. Here I was responsible for all online marketing, websites and got involved in CRM and all aspects of the business. I left here to join Tsogo Sun Gaming and made the switch from online casino's to offline casino's (but now doing the online marketing for offline casino's)
At Tsogo Sun Gaming I got quite involved in setting up the websites for the whole group on SharePoint as well as launching some of their Facebook Pages (notably Montecasino - www.facebook.com/montecasino). I also did all of the online marketing for the productions hosted at the Teatro at Montecasino during the period (notably Dreamgirls, Mamma-Mia!, Grease, Cats and many more)
I am now living in Durban and once again freelancing for a living!
What
can I do for you?
Logo's,
Corporate ID's, Websites, Architectural Presentations, Brochures,
CD Roms, Brochures, Letterheads, Business Cards, Magazine and Book
Layout and design, Print - you name it - I can do it! Websites include
basic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), and I can help with marketing
too (online, offline, Google Analytics, reporting, Social Media and more)!
